St. Patrick’s Day is always a fun and festive holiday to celebrate. It’s not a huge celebration in my house, but I enjoy participating by wearing green on that day. If you are looking for a simple St. Patrick’s Day Craft, then I think you will enjoy making this adorable “Lucky” banner to celebrate.
What is St. Patrick's Day?
St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday that falls on the seventeenth day of March annually that celebrates the day Christianity arrived in Ireland. St. Patrick’s day is usually celebrated with parties and parades. Also, everyone wears green to avoid getting pinched by others. Four-leaf clovers are symbols of good luck.
Materials
- 10 Sheets of 8.5 X 11″ Green Cardstock Paper from the Primary Collection by Recollections
- 5 Sheets of 8.5 X 11″ Light Green Cardstock Paper from the South Beach Collection by Recollections
- 5 Sheets of 8.5 X 11″ White Cardstock Paper from the White Collection by Recollections
- 4 Shamrocks from the 12 pack of St. Patrick’s Glitter Foam Shamrocks
- 7 ft. of Green Yarn
- Elmer’s Washable Clear School Glue
- Cricut Machine
- Hot Glue Gun
- Hole Punch
How To Make It
1. Open up the Cricut Design Space app on your computer. Click on “Shapes” and find the “Pennant” Shape. Adjust the size until it is 6.459″ X 9″.
2. Using the green paper, cut out 7 pennants on your Cricut machine.
3. Click on the pennant shape to make it smaller. Adjust the size to 5.921 X 8.25″. Cut out two pennant shapes on white cardstock paper and five pennant shapes on the light green cardstock, and two on the white cardstock paper.
4. Using Elmer’s Clear Glue, glue all of the smaller light green or white pennants into the center of the darker green pennants.
5. Go back to the Cricut Design space app delete the pennant shapes if they are still on the screen because you won’t need them anymore. Click on “Text” and spell the word “LUCKY” in all caps. Change the font to “Cricut Classic.” Adjust the multi-layer font to 5″ in height. Cut out the bottom layer on the green cardstock and the top layer on the white cardstock.
6. Using Elmer’s Clear Glue, glue the letters’ white top layers in the center of their green counterparts. Then, glue the multi-layered letters in the pennants’ center with the light green pennants on top.
7. Take four shamrocks out of the package. Glue 2 on each of the pennants with the white pennants on top.
8. Use your hole punch to punch a hole at the top right and left sides of each of the pennants. Thread the green yarn through each of the holes in the flags. The first and last pennants are the white pennants with the decorative shamrocks on them, and the pennants in between should spell the word “LUCKY.”
9. Use your hot glue gun to glue the yarn to the back of the cardstock to prevent the individual pennants from sliding out of place.
Conclusion
There you have it! Another craft that was so much fun to make and simple to do.
