My good friend recently asked me to make some LSU football party decorations for her fiancé’s birthday, and I was more than happy to help. Football parties are always a blast because everyone gets to show off their team spirit, and adding some fun and creative decorations can make the event even more memorable.

To help you start your party planning, I’ve put together a list of five simple DIY football party decorations that will impress your guests. These ideas are easy to make, from a football party banner to a football selfie frame, and will add a fun touch to your party decor. So, let’s start and make your football party one to remember!

5 Simple Football Party Decorations

For my friend’s fiance’s LSU-themed birthday party held outside due to the pandemic, I made five football-themed decorations, including a football banner, photo booth props, a selfie frame, food cards, and pennant flags. Despite the small guest list, the decorations were a hit and added some fun and creative spirit to the party. Creativity and effort can make special moments memorable during tough times.

How To Make It

Hey there! So, to make an excellent birthday banner, first cut out 13 Pennants on Citrus Cardstock Paper using the Cricut Craft Room app. You can fit two pennants on one sheet of paper, so you’ll only need seven sheets.

Next, make 13 more miniature pennants with Purple Passions cardstock paper and glue them evenly in the center of the yellow pennants.

Then, use the Cricut Craft Room app and White Dove cardstock paper to spell “Happy Birthday” in all caps using the Varsity Font. Next, glue one letter at a time in the center of the purple pennant layer.

After that, punch a hole in each pennant piece’s top left and top right corner and run yellow jute through each pennant until the banner spells out “happy” and “birthday,” starting with the last letter first. Tie a knot in each end to secure it, and use a dab of hot glue on the back of each letter to make sure they don’t move.

And voila! You should end up with two separate banners, one for “happy” and the other for “birthday.”

Helmet

Let’s make a photo booth prop in the shape of an LSU helmet!

First, find a free LSU logo online and save it to your computer by right-clicking and selecting “Save As.”

Next, open the Cricut Craft Room and import the logo as a “Cut only” file. Then, stretch out the helmet image until it matches the dimensions (Width) 7.011″ X (Height) 5.829″.

Upload the LSU logo to the helmet, and then “Slice” it.

Afterward, remove the unwanted pieces from the LSU logo and delete them.

Now, cut the helmet out of yellow “Citrus” paper.

Add strips of purple paper behind the LSU logo cutout and other cutouts, then glue them into place.

Lastly, glue the helmet onto a skewer or lollipop stick using a hot glue gun.

Football

I want to show you how I made an excellent football party prop using my Cricut machine.

I cut out a football image onto brown paper from the Nostalgia Pack. The football image is free and measures 7.0 inches in width and 4.319 inches in height.

Afterward, I glued a white sheet of cardstock from the White Dove Pack behind the football and trimmed off the excess paper.

Finally, I attached the football to a skewer or lollipop stick using a hot glue gun.

Sunglasses

Let me show you how I made the sunglasses photo booth prop.

All you need to do is use your Cricut machine to cut out a pair of sunglasses on purple paper from the Purple Passion pack. The sunglasses I used can be found as a free image on Cricut’s website and have a width of 7.0 inches and a height of 2.491 inches.

Once you’ve cut out the sunglasses, glue them onto a skewer or lollipop stick using a hot glue gun, and voila! You now have a fun and easy photo booth prop for your party.

LSU Megaphone

So, for the megaphone photo booth prop, I first found a free megaphone image online, saved it to my computer, and imported it to the Cricut Craft Room as a “cut-only file.”

Then, I stretched the megaphone to about 8.5″ wide and added the LSU logo from the helmet project on top of the megaphone. Finally, I sliced it, removed all the unwanted logo pieces, and deleted them.

Next, I cut the megaphone onto purple cardstock paper from the Purple Passions pack. Afterward, I glued a white strip of paper from the White Dove pack behind the megaphone and cut off the excess.

Finally, I glued the megaphone onto a skewer or lollipop stick with the hot glue gun.

LSU Pennant

Let me tell you how I made the LSU Pennant photo booth prop.

First, I went to the Cricut Shapes collection and found a triangle. I unlocked it, resized it until it measured 9.01″ wide and 5.633″ high, and then locked it back.

Next, I used the LSU logo from previous projects, placed it on top of the pennant flag, adjusted its size, sliced it, and deleted the logo pieces I didn’t need.

Then, I cut the pennant flag onto purple paper from the Purple Passions pack. To give it some contrast, I placed a yellow strip of paper from the Citrus pack behind the pennant and cut off the excess.

Finally, I attached the pennant flag to a skewer or lollipop stick using a hot glue gun. And there you have it, an excellent LSU Pennant photo booth prop!

Touch Down Voice Bubble

Let me tell you how I created my excellent Touch Down Voice Bubble Photo Booth Prop! First, I found a voice bubble image on Cricut and stretched it until it measured 8 inches wide and 5.6 inches high.

Next, I typed “Touch Down” in all caps on top of the voice bubble, then sliced it and removed the letters.

I printed the voice bubble onto a white sheet of cardstock from the White Dove Pack. Then, I added a purple sheet of cardstock from the Purple Passion Pack to add color and glued it behind the voice bubble, trimming off the excess paper.

Finally, I used a hot glue gun to attach the voice bubble to a skewer or lollipop stick. And there you have it, my amazing Touch Down Voice Bubble Photo Booth Prop!

Making the Frame

Let me tell you how I made my perfect photo booth selfie frame.

First, I took an Elmer’s Foam Board and measured a rectangle inside it using a yardstick. The rectangle’s distance from the edge of the foam board should be 2 inches on all sides except for the bottom, where it should be 3.5 inches.

Next, I used a box cutter to neatly cut out the rectangle in the center of the frame.

Then, I poured some glue (or Mod Podge) onto the frame and spread it out with an old paintbrush.

After that, I covered the entire frame with eight whole sheets of purple cardstock paper from the Purple Passions Collection. Again, I ensured the pieces of paper touched each other and no white spaces showed.

Finally, I cut the paper down to about 3 inches of excess on all sides of the frame. Then, I used scissors and packing tape to cut the paper, wrap it around the frame’s edges, and tape it on the back. And there you have it, my super excellent photo booth selfie frame!

Decorating the Frame

Hey, let’s decorate our excellent DIY selfie photo booth frame!

First, we’ll need to use the Cricut Machine to spell out the birthday person’s name in Martha Stewart – Wedding Cake font, a double-layer font. Then, we’ll cut out the name’s letters using yellow paper from the Citrus Collection and the Outline with purple paper from the Purple Passions Collection. Make sure the height of the yellow letters is 3.558, and the Outline is 4.336. If the name is longer than eight, we may need to make the letters smaller so that the name fits across the bottom of the frame.

Once we have all the letters cut out, we’ll glue the purple Outline down onto the bottom of the frame so that it sticks up over the bottom. Then, we’ll glue the yellow letters on the purple outline.

Next, we’ll use the Cricut Varsity font to cut out the words “Happy Birthday,” about 1.5 inches tall, and glue it to the top of the frame.

To add some extra pizzazz, we can add any other decorations we want to the frame, such as stars, dots, paw prints, or anything else that fits the birthday person’s personality. And there you have it, our super cool and personalized photo booth selfie frame!

Food Cards

How To Make It

I’ve got a great idea to help you organize your buffet table – DIY food cards!

First, we’ll need to use our trusty Cricut Machine to cut out seven rectangles, each measuring 4.0 inches wide and 6.0 inches tall, using yellow paper from the Citrus Collection. I used three sheets of paper to make these.

Next, we’ll cut out seven purple rectangles measuring 3.569 inches wide and 2.472 inches tall using purple paper from the Purple Passions Collection. Again, I used two sheets of paper for this.

For the final touch, we’ll need to cut out seven rectangles using white paper from the White Dove Collection, measuring 3.194 inches wide and 2.028 inches tall.

Take one of the yellow rectangles and lay it vertically on a flat surface. Fold the top side so that it touches the bottom side evenly. This will result in a folded rectangle that measures 4.0 inches wide and 3.0 inches tall.

Grab one of the purple rectangles and glue it in the center of the folded yellow rectangle. Finally, glue one of the white rectangles in the center of the purple rectangle. And there you have it – our DIY food cards are ready to use on our buffet table!

Pennant Flags

Materials

How To Make It

Let me show you how we can make some DIY pennant flags to support our favorite team.

First, let’s open the Cricut Shapes collection and find the triangle. Then, we’ll unlock it and drag it until it measures (Width) 9.501″ X (Height) 3.706″. Once we’ve got the right size, let’s lock it, so the measurements don’t change.

Next, we’ll need to grab the LSU Logo we used in previous projects, put it on top of the pennant flag, and adjust the size to our liking.

Now, we can cut out the pennant flag and LSU logo onto either purple or yellow paper from the Purple Passions or the Citrus Collection.

After that, let’s cut out seven rectangular strips measuring (Width) 2.0″ by (Height) 4.0″.

To assemble the flag, we’ll glue one of the strips along the smallest edge of the triangle. But be sure to only glue the very edge of the strip onto the triangle using a hot glue gun.

Then, we’ll flip the triangle over and glue the dowel or lollipop stick to the edge of the triangle. Finally, we’ll wrap the excess strip around the dowel or lollipop stick and glue it into place with the hot glue gun.

Lastly, we’ll glue the LSU Logo into place with Elmer’s Glue. And voila, we’ve got some cool DIY pennant flags to cheer on our team!
