Spring is here, and it such a beautiful and colorful time of year! The flowers are blooming, and the weather is changing just in time for us to go outside and enjoy the fantastic weather. One of the most famous symbols of spring is the rainbow. I will show you how I made this gorgeous woven rainbow wreath with pom pom clouds that’s perfect for spring or summer.

How To Make a Rainbow Wreath
Making the Rainbow
First, cut off two of the six sections for your wreath form using Floral Cutters of Plyers so that you are left with a rainbow shape.
*Note: This was a little difficult for me to do using the Floral Cutters, so I had to call The Hubs for reinforcement. Lol.
Then, with the red yarn, tie a double know around the bottom of the outer ring on the arch of the wreath form. Then, with a “figure 8” motion, go under and around the first and second arch until you have filled up three sections. I used about a 10-foot piece of yarn for each section. When you finish with the red yarn, tie a double knot around the nearest vertical post and cut the excess piece down to less than an inch long.
Next, with the orange yarn, tie a double knot around the fourth vertical post between the first and second row. Making a “figure 8” motion, go under and around the first and second arch until you have filled up the fourth section. Now, you have completed the top row of the rainbow.
Now, with the yellow yarn, tie a double knot around the bottom left of the third row. Then thread the other end of the yarn through a large yarn needle and tie a single knot. Make a “figure 8” motion, going under and around the second and third arches row. Every time you go around the second arch, slide over a single piece of the red yarn and go in between two parts. Fill up two sections with the yellow yarn.
Tie the green yarn around the left side of the third arch in the third section. Make the “figure 8” motion, going between the red and orange yarn until you fill the third and fourth sections on the second row with green yarn.
With the blue yarn, tie a double knot around the bottom and smallest arch in the rainbow wreath form. Thread the other end of the yarn through your needle. Make a “figure 8” motion around the third and the fourth arches in the rainbow. Use your needle to weave your way in between the yellow yarn. Fill up one section with blue yarn.
Repeat the same process, filling up the second, third, and fourth sections on the bottom row with purple yarn.
Cleaning It Up
Now, turn the rainbow over. Cut down any leftover pieces of yarn to less than an inch tall. Glue the pieces down to the bars on the back of the wreath using a hot glue gun. Push them down into the glue with a skewer.
Look closely at your rainbow at cut off any pieces of fuzz on your rainbow. Be careful not to cut through the yarn that is part of the rainbow.
Making the Pom Pom Clouds
I created the clouds by making 10 individual pom poms and putting them together in two groups.
To make a pom pom, wrap the yarn around your hand at least 30 times.
Carefully slide the yarn off of your hand, maintaining the circle shape.
Tie another piece of yarn (about 12 inches long) around the middle of the loops of yarn. Tie a double knot.
Use your scissors to cut through each loop of the white yarn. Don’t miss a single piece.
Flatten your pom pom out and use your scissors to cut the strings in the shape of a perfect circle. Go around and around until you are happy with the look. Flatten your pom pom in from different positions and cut any string pieces that stick out of the perfect circle.
Fluff your pom pom out and glue it down to the end of your rainbow with your hot glue gun. Five pom poms should be on each end of the rainbow. Make two rows of pom poms on each side with three pom poms on the bottom row and two on the top.
Don't Be a Stranger...
There you have it! This rainbow wreath project is not super complicated, but it is a little time-consuming. If you want to recreate it, you should spread it out over several afternoons while binge-watching your favorite TV shows or catching up with an old friend and enjoying a beverage of your choice.
