Are you ready to get into the fall vibes and decorate some pumpkins? Real pumpkins are great, but they can be expensive and don’t last long. That’s why I love using Dollar Tree’s Styrofoam pumpkins. They’re an inexpensive option that can be used year after year, and they’re perfect for getting creative with your decorations.
In this post, I will share a fun and easy way to decorate these pumpkins. The best part is that you probably already have most of the supplies at home. All you need is a little paint, ribbon, and gemstone stickers, and you’ll be able to transform these simple pumpkins into beautiful autumn home decor.
So, if you’re ready to start, grab a few styrofoam pumpkins from Dollar Tree, and let’s get creative!
Materials
- 2 Carvable Foam Pumpkins (from Dollar Tree)
- Master’s Touch Acrylic Paint- Titanium White
- Amsterdam Acrylic Paint- Neutral Gray
- Gemstone Stickers (from Dollar Tree)
- 7/8″ Wired Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun
How To Make It
Give each one a good coat of acrylic paint and let it dry before giving it another. Then, keep repeating until you can’t see any more orange peeking through, and the pumpkin is completely covered. And don’t forget the stem! Give it a nice coat of paint, too.
Let’s bling out these pumpkins! We will place these sparkly gemstone stickers along the grooves, starting from the top near the stem and working our way down. No worries if a sticker runs out in the middle of a groove. Grab another one and line it up nicely, cutting as needed. I only had one pack for two pumpkins, so I put them on every other groove. But if you’ve got more bags, feel free to put them in every groove for an even sparklier look!
We’ll make a cute bow with the wired ribbon, then tie it around the stem. Next, use the hot glue gun to secure it into place. And then, give the ribbon a little fluffing until it looks just how you like it. Super easy!
*Tip: Just a quick tip for those pesky wire ribbon ends that won’t stay put. Suppose they’re sticking up and ruining the look; no problem. You can grab a marker or pencil and gently curl the ends until they lay flat and look pretty.
*Side Note: You know what would be super cool? Making this craft a decoration for a Cinderella-themed birthday party. Imagine how awesome it would look as a centerpiece for the party. So fun!

Frequently Asked Questions
Are foam pumpkins waterproof?
Foam pumpkins are not naturally waterproof. If you want to use them outside or in a location where they may get wet, you may need to seal or protect them somehow. You can try spray-painting them with a clear waterproof sealant or wrap them in a waterproof material like plastic or silicone. Remember that foam pumpkins may break down over time if exposed to moisture, so it’s best to protect them as much as possible.
